Chris is proud to offer both Process Consultation and Executive Coaching to a select number of camp directors. The brief interviews below explain these services in more detail. You are welcome to call Chris at (603) 557-8100 for details.
Q: What is Executive Coaching? A: Executive Coaching is a series of scheduled, focused meetings between a coach and a client, such as a camp director or company CEO. Q: What are the meetings for? A: The meetings—usually conducted by phone—are designed to ensure that the client achieves his or her personal and professional goals.
A: Executive Coaching works by helping clients refine their goals, articulate the methods they will use to achieve those goals, candidly examine obstacles to achievement, and stick with agreed-upon deadlines.
Q: Is coaching like psychotherapy? A: Both psychotherapy and coaching help people grow, in part by emphasizing adaptive behaviors. However, the emphasis in coaching is on the future, on achieving personal and professional success, and on positive thinking. Psychotherapy often involves historical examination and a focus on the etiology of negative emotions.
Q: What is Process Consultation? A: Whereas Executive Coaching focuses on an individual's performance, Process Consultation focuses on an entire organization's health. The consultant uses information from phone calls, interviews, on-site observations, and documentation to learn how management and interpersonal processes contribute or detract from the camp's stated mission. Q: How does it work? A: Like the fish who cannot comment on the quality of the water because he has been unknowingly swimming in it all of his life, many camp directors do not see what exactly is contributing to dysfunction at their camp. Being immersed in the process, they detect that something is not running smoothly, but they cannot clearly define the problem. Alternatively, they may detect the problem, but be at a loss for solutions. Engaging a creative camp professional from outside the organization provides necessary perspective for change. Chris brings 35 years of camp experience, management expertise, and advanced degrees in mental health and behavior to the table. Q: How is this helpful? A: A skilled process consultant will rarely propose precise solutions, but their shared observations guide decision-makers toward insights that suggest powerful courses of action. Chris works hard in his process consultations to save camps time, money, and future hassles by providing candid insights about a camp's health from a management and human resources standpoint.
Chris offers confidential Executive Coaching and Process Consultation to a select number of clients each year. Contact Chris to inquire about pricing and availability. Single coaching sessions focused on a specific topic may be scheduled by e-mailing or calling Chris to set up an evening appointment. Subject to schedule availability. |
